Top learner receives car for working hard

She said that as top achievers were called to the stage, some with 100 per cent on tough subjects like Mathematics, it did not strike her that she was the one who beat all the learners in the province.

WHITE RIVER – She was not expecting it at all and considering the hard work and effort she and her fellow learners put throughout the year, she never thought she stood a chance.

But Bhavika Mistry from Hoerskool Hoogenhout emerged as an overall top learner in the province and received a brand new Toyota Etios, courtesy of Imperial Toyota, for her hard work.

“I’m still shocked and can’t really put words together to express my joy for this achievement,” said the excited Mistry.

She said that as top achievers were called to the stage, some with 100 per cent on tough subjects like Mathematics, it did not strike her that she was the one who beat all the learners in the province.

The top learner who loves any challenge that has to do with numbers attributed her performance to her desire to be independent and make her parents proud.

She said that she was never good at any sport during her high school years but would always jump to any mind gobbling challenge.

“I always wanted to be academically and spiritually mart and that has always helped me to set my mind on achieving great stuff academically,” she added.

MEC for the education department congratulated her saying that if she could do it, any learner should be encouraged and focus on being a winner come next year.

Mistry has been accepted at the University of Pretoria where she will be studying Actural Science and focus on being independent.  As for her new baby, she is going to get a driver’s license soon so that she can enjoy driving it.
