Christmas without water

Residents celebrate Christmas without water.

KABOKWENI – Residents in some areas of this village were left in shock after spending Christmas Day without water.

They have been facing the water crisis since Monday ,which forced others not to celebrate the birth of Christ and walk long distances seeking for wells so that they could obtain water. Some went on and indicated that it’s their first time to spend Christmas without water.

Mpumalanga News learnt that these areas are part of the areas in the province where water supply is a challenge. It has been discovered that water supply is not consistent. They indicated that if you get water from your tap today, you must bear in mind that tomorrow it is not going to happen, but since Monday the tune has changed which has left many people with unanswered questions.

”Usually we used to spend a day without water and it was not stressing because you know that the following day you will get water, but this time around, it’s worse. I didn’t have time to enjoy Christmas because it’s not easy to live without water. Let’s hope we are not going to experience a similar problem on New Year’s Day. Our leaders need to speed up in improving water supply because it’s a source of life,“ voiced out one of the residents who wanted to remain anonymous.

Meanwhile, community members who from Bhejukufa, which is not far away from Maporo, never experienced the problem since the festive season started.
