SABI SANDS – A man sustained serious injuries after having been trampled by a buffalo near Ulusaba
Game Reserve yesterday. He is currently recuperating in Mediclinic Nelspruit.

At around 09:30, Mpumalanga Emergency Medical Service were informed that a man in his 40’s had
been attacked by a buffalo near the reserve.

He was apparently walking with other tourists when the incident occurred.

EMS’ helicopter was dispatched to the scene and the man was found with serious
injuries. Medical personnel of Sabi Sands were already on the scene, trying to
stabilise the man.

EMS paramedics took over and discovered that he had sustained injuries on his thigh, back,
abdomen and face when the old buffalo bull attacked him.

Paramedics had to apply advanced medical treatment to stabilise him. He was airlifted
to hospital.

According to Mr. Steve Daly from EMS, his current condition is unknown, but was
stable before take-off.

By the time of going to press, Mediclinic was not yet able to respond to media enquiries.
