Learners participate in health walk campaign

The learners were also taught on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and cervical cancer.

DAANTJIE- Learners from schools around Pienaar and Msogwaba recently
participated in a health walk campaign to keep themselves healthy and
fit.
According to Ms Busi Vilane, a health promoter from Ziweni clinic, the
aim of the walk was to encourage learners to be physically healthy and to eat
healthy in order to fight diseases like heart attacks and obesity, which is a
serious problem among young people in the country who indulge on most fatty food
stuffs and junk food.
The learners from Sibambisene Combined, Msogwaba
Primary and Shishila primary schools were also lectured on the importance of
exercise and different kinds of exercise.

“Walking is part of exercise, using steps instead of elevators or lift is also part of exercise. This is your time to be active, exercise also promotes your life span as your body easily fights diseases,” a speaker said.

The learners were also taught on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and cervical cancer.

Girls were urged to regularly check their breasts for any signs of breast cancer every four days after their periods.
