Two teenage boys kidnapped in Nelspruit

“The father drove down frantically from Johannesburg last night while the kidnappers were on the phone to him demanding money.”

NELSPRUIT – Two teens aged 18 and 19 were abducted in a West Acres park on Friday at 19:00.

One of the boys was released on Enos Mabusa at Nelsville at 21:00. He walked to Ehmke Street to a friend’s house. He phoned the family who alerted Hi-Tech Security.

Hi-Tech Security’s operations manager Mr Nico Grobler said they, Bossies Community Justice, J&M Security and the police immediately responded to the call. The boy’s friends took him to Belladonna Centre where they were met by the police and security roleplayers.

The family of the other boy had by now received a ransom demand.

Grobler said they received a ransom demand of R1 million.

“The father frantically drove down from Johannesburg last (Friday) night while the kidnappers were on the phone to him demanding money.”

The teen that was dropped at Nelsville was released when the suspects found out he was not the brother of the other boy.”

“We were following a strong lead”, said Grobler.

“They must have known we were on to them as they then dropped off the other teen off at the Edge near the Uitkyk Road at around 03:10,” said Grobler.

A source told Lowvelder that the abductors spoke Portuguese in the vehicle.

“Both youths were found and no ransom money was paid over to the kidnappers.”

He said no suspects had yet been arrested and they were still following leads.

The family reveals traumatic details of their ordeal.

More information to follow in the next edition of Lowvelder.
