Water project for Esperado village

It is reported that an amount of R6 million has been set aside for the whole project.

BARBERTON – Early next year, the people of Esperado village and surrounding areas will no longer struggle to get water.

 

This comes after the executive mayor of Ehlanzeni district municipality, Cllr Letta Shongwe, in collaboration with the mayor of Umjindi Local Municipality, Cllr Lazarus Mashaba conducted a sod-turning ceremony of the water supply project that will be benefiting about 2 298 people at Esperado 1,2,3 and Kamashaya residents.

 

Speaking at the ceremony, Shongwe indicated that the official launch of the project is the first step towards a good direction in terms of developing rural areas as she said: “After I had attended a meeting that was held at Mjindini Trust a few months ago, I noticed that most of the challenges that were raised by community members was lack of water and we felt with our local municipality that we need to address this issue because our people are suffering,“ she explained. It is reported that an amount of R6 million has been set aside for the whole project.
