Yet another lodge at Hazyview attacked

The owner of Hamilton Parks, only known as Chris, blatantly said he didn’t want to talk about the attack

HAZYVIEW – The town is far from being rid of armed criminals harassing guest establishments in the area. Hamilton Parks Country Lodge also suffered an armed attack on Saturday.

Lowvelder and its sister publication, Hazyview Herald, have been criticised by readers for reporting the wrong information. Facebook users Eva Wagner and Klaus Hollander advised the newspaper to contact lodge owners directly to verify facts.

This journalist did just that yesterday (Thursday) morning. The owner of Hamilton Parks, only known as Chris, blatantly said he didn’t want to talk about the attack. “What you guys do is create bad business for others when you should be taking on the police,” he said.

No police spokesmen could be reached to comment.

However, an investigating officer who was at the scene the next day, told the newspaper that a security guard of Hamilton’s had been wounded in the leg.

“A 9mm pistol’s cartridge had been emptied and four rounds were shot with a shotgun,” the investigating officer said.

Another high-ranking police official told the newspaper that the suspects approached two units at the lodge on foot at 03:00 that day and robbed German tourists of cash, cellphones, laptops and jewellery. He too said that a security guard had been shot.
