Finance employee appeared in court for fraud

Employee appeared court for defrauding the Department of finance over R124 466.

MBOMBELA – A government official from the Department of Finance briefly appeared in the Nelspruit Regional Court on November 13 on charges of fraud.

It is alleged that Mr Delta Mochidi defrauded the department over R124 466 (One hundred and twenty four thousand, four hundred and sixty six rand.

He supposedly defrauded the department through claiming false kilometres between 09 April 2011 and January 2012.

The matter was previously postponed for further evidence and on November 13 the states advocate told the court that the state was ready to proceed with the matter however it couldn’t because the defence lawyer was not in court.

The matter will be heard on December 4.

 

Mochidi is out on bail.

On a different matter two old men appeared in the same court for allegedly stealing timber worth R200 000 on August 14 near White River.

 

Mr Ezekiel Msimango (69) and Elliot Sando (55) from Mahushu both appeared in the same court on November 13.

 

They told the court that they have their own lawyer who however was not present in court on the day.

The matter was postponed to December 2 for them to bring their lawyer in court. They are currently out on warning.
