Company gives back to local communities

“We aim to continue supporting initiatives that uplift our community because Nelspruit is not just an area where our business is, it’s where we raise our families too."

This year has been a remarkable year for the RE/MAX brand which turned 40 in January. As part of the anniversary celebrations many of the company’s offices have chosen to give back and get involved with their local communities. One such office is RE/MAX Lifestyle Estates, which services property buyers and sellers in the Nelspruit area.

According to Mr Maurice Lodewick, Broker/Owner of RE/MAX Lifestyle Estates, with the goal of uplifting the community in which they work and live in, his office managed to raise R20 628.87 through the RE/MAX Foundation for charity and local community enrichment. He noted that the cheque was presented to Bossies Community Justice in Nelspruit in order to further the incredible work that they do within the area.

Bossies Community Justice is a non-profit organisation whose main objective is to enable faster response times when a life-threatening incident or emergency arises within Nelspruit and the greater Lowveld region. They are an organisation that is dedicated to fighting crime within the community and form an integral link between the police, security, emergency services and the members of the public.

“Our decision to nominate Bossies Community Justice as our nominated charity is solely based on the amazing work that they do and the number of ways in which they get involved with the local community. Having an organisation like this within the Nelspruit community helps all of us to feel safer and sleep a little better at night knowing that we have such dedicated individuals working towards making Nelspruit a better place to live,” said Lodewick. “The estate agents in our office have dedicated a percentage of their commission towards this initiative, so whether it’s from the sale of a property or a property rental, part of the money goes into the fund to give back to the community. This way we will be able to continue raising money and supporting various projects in and around Nelspruit.”

Lodewick said that the sobering fact is that so many South Africans have been affected by crime and so finding ways to reduce crime statistics and increase safety is imperative.

Adrian Goslett, CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, said that security has a major impact on home buying decisions. “An area’s safety impacts directly on the property values and demand, which is why real estate professionals understand the importance of supporting groups that work towards making the area a safer place for its residents,” he said.

“We aim to continue supporting initiatives that uplift our community because Nelspruit is not just an area where our business is, it’s where we raise our families too,” Lodewick concluded.
