Mabuza urges youth to register

During the list conference, Mabuza called for party members, especially young people, to utilise social media to advance the agenda of the ANC.

MBOMBELA – The ANC chairperson and premier of the province, Mr David Mabuza who regards himself a friend of the youth league, has appealed to the youth to register with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) this weekend.

During the list conference, Mabuza called for party members, especially young people, to utilise social media to advance the agenda of the ANC.

“I speak as both the chairperson of the ANC, as a parent and as a government official, and I would like to plead with young people to help strengthen our democracy and the starting point is by registering with the IEC this weekend.

“The journey to defend our democracy and the advancement of economic freedom actually begins now with you and you have to seal it with your cross next year,” appealed Mabuza.

“I am happy that the league structures are being revamped, because this will help us in our efforts to spread the message to other youths of the province.

We need every young person to Tweet, Facebook and shout about registering and about our campaigns to recruit more youngsters within our ranks as we move forward to strengthen our democracy and create decent employment and economic empowerment,” he said.

In preparations for the registration and elections, the Democratic Alliance in the province has put up posters also urging people to register.
