Gogo’s house a concern to community

According to the source, the pensioner had applied for an RDP house a couple of years ago, but had not received any feedback.

BUSHBUCKRIDGE – The community of the area are worried about the dilapidated house of a 77-year-old pensioner, Gogo Karlina Javani which was partly destroyed by a storm two years ago.

Gogo Javani lives with her disabled son, her other unemployed son and two grandchildren in Kildare village near Ximhungwe.

According to members of the community, the pensioner’s house was destroyed two years ago and didn’t she receive any form of assistance from the disaster management office or the leaders of the community.

“The councillor was called here several times about the issue, but he never came,” said sources.

There are also allegations that the councillor allegedly had an attitude towards the local social workers who kept on reminding him about the state of gogo’s house.

According to the source, the pensioner had applied for an RDP house a couple of years ago, but had not received any feedback.

It is said that she ended up using part of her pension money to build a one-room house which is not spacious enough for her and her grandchildren.

”We helped her to apply for a RDP house last year, but her name was not included in the list of beneficiaries.

Our councillor knows about her state,” said the source.

The area’s ward councillor, Cllr Lutha Mhaule told Mpumalanga News it was impossible to say when the family would receive their RDP house as they have an endless list of applicants.

“House allocation is also determined by the budget, but if you can provide me with their contacts maybe I can drive there to assess their situation and place them on our priority list,” he said.

Mhaule reveals there are only 303 houses that will be built in this financial year in all the 12 wards of the municipality.
