PIENAAR – In days gone by, a church was a very respected place as it was called the house of God. However, to criminals it’s just a building.
This has been proved by those who are targeting churches in the area. This follows the arrest of three suspects who were found with stolen church instruments. They are expected to appear in the KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
According to the spokesperson for the local police station, Capt Jabu Ndubune, “Members of the Alliance Church came to the station and opened a case of theft after their instruments had been stolen, and we managed to arrest three people. We suspect that the instruments belong to the church, but we are still waiting for them to come and confirm.”
She warned church leaders to make sure that their security was up to standard.
“As in this incident, we believe that the suspects were planning to sell the instruments somewhere,” she said.
