Freedom Fighters welcome Sibuyi’s suspension

Sibuyi had been arrested by the hawks and was charged with fraud relating to a R1.2 Billion security tender and was released on R50 000 bail.

MBOMBELA – Economic Freedom Fighters in Mpumalanga welcomed the decision of suspending Thulani Sibuyi as HOD Safety, Security & Liaison.

This comes after the party last week released a statement where they were calling for immediate dismissal of the notoriously delinquent HOD who was, a week earlier, arrested in connection with causing an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol in Kempton Park. Just two (2) months prior, Sibuyi had been arrested by the hawks and was charged with fraud relating to a R1.2 Billion security tender and was released on R50 000 bail.

In this case, it was also the EFF that radically called for Sibuyi to be suspended without pay in light of the seriousness of the allegations levelled against him.

“We know that Sibuyi has in fact not resigned out of his own free will but rather it is subsequent to him being summoned to a meeting with Mpumalanga premier, David Mabuza. EFF has reliably learnt that it is at this meeting that a “requisition” was put forward for Sibuyi to resign.

Therefore, there exists an explicit causal link between the EFF Mpumalanga calling for Sibuyi to be fired and him resigning. The EFF welcome this as a victory for the EFF and the people of Mpumalanga who are tired of rampant corruption in the provincial government as well as civil servants who go around abusing their positions as if the provincial legislature is their mother’s spaza shop. This is a victory for the millions of down-trodden, impoverished people of this province who have been waiting for services to be delivered to them for 20 years while thugs continue to loot the state with impunity.” said the spokesperson of the party, Mpumelelo Masina.

EFF also notes that the ANCYL NTT has yet to comment about the ill- discipline of its Ehlanzeni Regional Task Team (RTT) member.

Mr Sibuyi is a member of the RTT, a unit supposedly constituted to rebuild the ANCYL structures following its disbandment. “We find it ridiculous that Sibuyi is yet to account for his ill – discipline whilst not only being a member of the structure but also a deployed public servant.

This is truly indicative of the double standards with which discipline is maintained in the ruling party and the absolute impunity with which members aligned to particular factions in the ZANC are allowed to recklessly disrespect the electorate and the citizenry at large.

We want to say to the people of Mpumalanga and South Africa that the EFF is here to champion your cause. We are here to stand up for what is right and to condemn, with the utmost disdain, that which is wrong,“ he explained.

The ANC’s PTT denied that Sibuyi was their member and was not accountable to them, “but would be dealt with by the senior party”.
