Government officials graduate

The certificates were awarded by the University of Pretoria in the fields of Supply Chain Management and Asset Management.

MBOMBELA – Thirty three government officials received certificates of competence in Supply Chain and Assets Management during the graduation ceremony held on Friday at the Mbombela Stadium.

The certificates were awarded by the University of Pretoria in the fields of Supply Chain Management and Asset Management.

The Mpumalanga Department of Finance initiated the one-year programme to improve the capacity of the officials to be responsive to current policy and operational developments in Supply Chain and Assets Management environment in Mpumalanga Province.

“The officials that successfully went through this programme will be able to fully interpret and ensure that there is compliance in terms of Supply Chain Management policies and practices in their respective departments,” said the Provincial Supply Chain Manager, Mr Robert Masambo.

The programme is expanding the pool of officials who will assist the provincial departments, municipalities and public entities to effectively monitor and act on risks in the supply chain and assets management environment, and ensure that the issues raised in the audit reports of departments are effectively addressed.

The department urged the graduates to optimise the skills acquired through this programme to speed service delivery and more importantly to save tax payers’ money millions of rand.

Meanwhile, 25 officials have commenced their training in the same field. The officials are expected to complete the programme in July 2014.
