NKOMAZI – The Nkomazi Magistrates’ Court finally sentenced a 49-year-old woman
and her younger brother to 20 years imprisonment each for murder, assault with
intent to cause grievious bodily harm and kidnapping.
In February 2011 the suspects went to fetch the victims from a certain tavern at Driekoppies near Malelane and took them to bushes where they started to assault them because they suspected them of breaking into their house and stealing computers.
According to police reports, one of the victims died while they were being assaulted.
Evidence brought in court states that the accused further drove to a nearby bush
where they dumped the deceased and the other victims.
The victims were helped by a member of the community who saw them while he was on his way to obtain sand, he then alerted the Schoemansdal Police who attended to the scene and interviewed the victim that was still alive, but seriously injured.
A murder docket was opened an investigation continued until it let to the arrest
of the two siblings who were convicted and sentenced to 20 years imprisonment.
