MBOMBELA – On his birthday he was overcome by a dark cloud after the Nelspriut court slapped him with life imprisonment.
Mduduzi Tibane (32), was found guilty on different charges of rape, as he started to rape women in different places at Ehlanzeni region such as Kabokweni, Pieanar, Matsulu and Louis Creek.
Tibane started to target women around 2003 before he was put behind bars after he was arrested at Louis Creek. His sentence comes after one of the victims he raped in 2009 at Matsulu, managed to identify him after he raped her. It was revealed that police worked tirelessly to put Tibane behind bars as it seems that he was the mastermind of such crime. What made this worse in such a way that he thought he would be out of trouble in that there was no charge sheet and the docket was closed.
The police worked tirelessly to ensure that the rapist faced the law and the charge sheet was found.
The spokesperson of Pienaar SAPS, Capt Jabu Ndubane, said it was not easy to deal with Tibane’s matter, but as police they are happy that finally justice has been done. ”Since 2003, there was no charge sheet, but we went an extra mile to ensure that we found the charge sheet,“ she explained.
She went on and indicated that rape turns to be a normal part of life at Pienaar and she urged women to be careful. The last victim that he raped said what made things easy for her to identify Tibane is that she remembered exactly what happened on that day as she went on and indicated: “When the suspect took me and my younger brother to the scene where he raped me, there were lights which helped me to see him,“ she explained.
