Three suspects arrested for dagga dealing

Three suspects were arrested for dagga following a police tip off.

PIENAAR – Three suspects were arrested after they were found with five buckets filled with dagga which is estimated to a street value of R50 000.

The arrest of Themba Malambe, Nompilo Vilakazi and Nomcebo Nkosi comes after the local police station received a tip off about dagga dealing.

Speaking to Mpumalanga News, the spokesperson of the local police station, Captain Jabu Ndubane said the suspects are facing charges of dagga dealing. They made their first appearance in court on Thursday. ”We received a tip off and then we visited a certain house in our area. As police, we believe that the suspects were doing business by selling dagga,“ she explained.

She went on and indicated that dagga dealing is giving them sleepless nights and the sad part is that the criminals are selling to young people which includes learners. “It’s very painful because they are selling the dagga to school kids, that is why we come across numerous incidents of assaults in schools and only to find out that they are fighting for dagga,“ said Ndubane.

Meanwhile, during the crime imbizo that was hosted by the MEC of safety, security and community liaison, Vusi Shongwe in Barberton two months ago, he called upon police officers to work tirelessly to ensure that drugs and dagga dealers face the mighty hand of the law and was quoted by Mpumalanga News saying: “This is not a banana republic where people can do whatever they want. There are people who are destroying our children’s future by selling dagga and drugs. A community members, we need to work together with police so that we can deal with them because what they are doing is against the law,” he said.
