KABOKWENI – The parents accused of killing their own child briefly appeared before the Kabokweni Magistrate Court yesterday.
Thokozani Mandlazi and Pretty Mabilane appeared in court for a murder of their month – old daughter who was buried in a shallow grave next to a stream between half way and Bhuga, outside Nelspruit.
Mandlazi ( 30) and Mabilane ( 27 ) were arrested early this month after Mandlazi ‘s grandmother was surprised when she didn’t find the child at home.
She was told they have taken her to relatives in Pienaar but suspected something fishy and reported the matter to the police.
The pair who face charges of murder, were asked if they will need legal representative, to which they said they will represent themselves, but later changed and asked for legal help after the magistrate reminded them that they are facing murder charges.
They are expected to appear again in the Kabokweni magistrate court on October 29 for bail application.
