ELUKWATINI – The phrase “Life is too short” is glued on the tongues of most mankind, however, it can’t be said enough to the residents of Elukwatini RDP houses at Julius Mkhondo Ave who were left in dismay following the death of a 19-year-old mother and her four-month-old baby.

It is alleged that she was preparing a meal on her two spiralled plate stove, while her baby was peacefully sleeping in the other corner of the shack she shares with her boyfriend who was not in at the moment when the accident happened.

Community members tried to put down the flames but failed. Both mother and baby were burnt beyond recognition. Their bodies were taken to the mortuary and an inquest had been opened.
