No electricity, no vote

This comes after residents told this newspaper that they had been waiting for electricity for two years and nothing has happened to date.

HAZYVIEW – Local residents have indicated that they are not going to vote in the next general elections next year due to the lack of service delivery in the area.

This comes after residents told this newspaper that they had been waiting for electricity for two years and nothing has happened to date.

They also indicated that they were hopeful that the electricity project would be finished by the end of the year following its commencement.

One of the residents Ms Fikile Maphophe said: “We are not going to vote next year, we are sick and tired of being lied to by politicians.”

She added that when politicians wanted residents to vote for them they promise them (residents) a better life and once they have been voted into power they don’t go back to those communities.

“No electricity no vote,” she said.

Maphophe added that they are not going to allow political parties to campaign in their community even if it’s members from the opposition party.

“They are all the same, we don’t want them to come and conduct door-to-door campaigns. We had enough because we want service delivery but they don’t give us,” she concluded.
