Award winners to be announced tomorrow

The department seeks to create a platform and an enabling environment for all role players among other things.

The Deputy Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Ms Rejoice Mabudafhasi, MP, will announce the 2013 winners of the Water Conservation and Water Demand Management Sector Awards at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand on Friday, 18 October 2013.

The Department of Water Affairs has a vision of a South Africa that has an embedded and actively applied culture of water conservation and water demand management in which all sectors must share water resources in an equitable and sustainable manner.

 

Through the Water Conservation and Water Demand Management (WCWDM) Sector Awards, the department seeks to create a platform and an enabling environment for all role players and stakeholders from all sectors to start appreciating and understanding the importance of conserving water.

The objectives of the Water Sector Awards are as follows:

To promote Water Conservation and Water Demand Management (WC/WDM) through recognizing the efforts and successes of water use sectors, institutions, commercial and public entities as well as individuals;

To drive measurable improvement in Water Conservation and Water Demand Management by participants in the Water Conservation and Water Demand Management sector awards;

To promote public awareness on the role and function of the Department of Water Affairs and institute a platform for sharing the department’s key water conservation messages.
