Late bus frustrates commuters

One commuter, who didn’t reveal his name to this publication said: “People of KaBokweni are undermined by the company as our buses always have problems.

KABOKWENI – The exchanging of vulgar words between a bus driver and some furious commuters was just the way to kick-off the day on Monday morning.

This alleged rude behaviour surfaced after a bus driver failed to arrive on time and it has been alleged that the bus company’s drivers have a tendency of arriving late at different destinations, as a result commuters arrive late at work and risk losing their jobs.
According to one loyal commuter, the bus was supposed to arrive at their bus-stop around 06:00 as usual, but on Monday they waited close to an hour as some of them indicated that the bus was stuck on the road in the city due to some technical problems.

The furious commuters are threatening to picket outside the bus company’s offices as way of demonstrating their anger at the alleged poor services by the company’s drivers.
They also indicated that there’s a lack of communication between the commuters and the bus company.

One commuter, who didn’t reveal his name to this publication said: “People of KaBokweni are undermined by the company as our buses always have problems.

They are always delayed, especially in the evening. We experience long queues and we can’t tolerate that anymore,“ he said.

It’s not the first time for commuters using the buses to lay complaints about poor service and being left stranded for hours when they had to commute park-and-ride soccer fans during the 2013 Orange Afcon tournament.

Most of the commuters who experienced the problem were from Tekatakho, Barberton and KaBokweni.
The executive chairwoman of the company, Ms Nora Fakude said she was not aware of the matter, as they use a system that shows which buses have to enter the platform, but she will investigate the matter.

This company is one of the biggest bus service companies in Mpumalanga and has a vast history and experience in this field and it’s the largest company in Mpumalanga with a fleet of more than 1 000 buses transporting more than 50 000 commuters daily.
