Sanco backs the ANC campaign

Civil organisation supports ruling party's campaign.

KAMAGUGU – In support of the African National Congress’ (ANC) election campaign, well over 450 South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco) volunteers painted this area in yellow during a door-to-door campaign on Sunday.

Spearheaded by the organisation’s provincial executive member, Mr Vusi Manzini, PWC member, Mr Raymond Makamo, ANC provincial treasurer, Mr Andrias Gamede and Sanco’s regional treasurer, Ms Nunu Macdonald, the campaign that lasted several hours formed part of a number of programmes planned throughout the province in the running to the elections.

Speaking to the volunteers, Gamede compared the ANC to life, saying that there was no life without the ANC, and therefore it’s important to vote for the ANC.

“The opposition parties know that it took over

50 years for our colonisers and apartheid to destroy this country and they know very well that it will take some time to rebuild what was lost and so they go out to deceive you and the youth. They promise you milk and honey but take a look at the lives of the people in Cape Town where the Democratic Alliance governs.

It’s a total chaos, our people are made to relieve themselves in the open, so don’t be fooled,” he went on. He appealed to the youth to apply for ID cards and register to vote in order to protect the freedom and democracy they are enjoying now.

“This is the only country in Africa to give its people free housing, free education and free health-care services and yet you want to believe all the stories you hear from these parties born yesterday. Only the ANC cares for the people, just remember that when you go to vote next year.”
