Mr G celebrates with the people in style.

Robert Gumede's birthday celebration made history in the local entertainment industry.

MBOMBELA – Having being part of Mr G’s, or Robert Gumede for the rest of us, 50th birthday celebrations will definitely be one of the best highlights of being in this industry.

This as the renowned business mogul and philanthropist’s three day birthday kicked off in style as guests converged to Emnotweni Sun for the first leg of the celebrations.

The shindig which boasted a beautifully decorated marquee saw the likes of celebrated musicians such as Judith Sephuma and Brenda Mntambo serenading the crowd with their angelic voices as guests geared themselves in a celebratory mode.

Since I cannot play golf to save my life, I then decided to divert my attention at the tranquil and picturesque Lowveld Botanical Gardens with gorgeous ladies in their mad hats while teenagers were treated to a camp that was packed with fun filled activities including hip hop artist and DJ’s alike.

Later in the evening ladies and gentlemen elegantly transformed as they dropped their golf clubs and hats for suits and evening gowns.

This came ahead of the Gala dinner dubbed the “Theatre of dreams” which saw Gumede’s life being depicted on stage by two of respected actors in the industry – Rapulana Seiphemo and Kenneth Nkosi.

After seeing the theatrical of how Gumede grew from humble beginnings and becoming the respected and loved businessman left me with nothing but motivating and determination.

Then the scores of people congregated to the Nelspruit Rugby stadium to witness one of the finest moments in the local entertainment industry’s history.

This as multiple award wining RnB sensation Keith Sweat and Hip Hop giant Rick Ross performed to a crowd of 65 000 people alongside other celebrated national musicians such as AKA, Khuli Chana and Zahara to name but a few.
