Coolest or uncoolest school competition?

NELSPRUIT – The Coolest School Competition where one school stands a chance to win the Mafunyane Riverside Water Park for a day, seems to be uncool due to a
lot of underhand cunning.
On Monday August 5 voters on Facebook complained that they could no longer vote for Hoërskool Nelspruit and Bergvlam and were under the impression that both have been disqualified. Marketing manager of Riverside Park, Ms Tanya Cruse said that no school has been disqualified, and they urge the pupils to adhere to the terms of one vote per person per school in order to avoid being disqualified.
Spokesperson of Hoërskool Nelspruit, Ms Liezl van der Linde said on Thursday that not even she is aware of what’s going on. “The organisers said that we as a school cheated, because we voted more than once. The terms and conditions do not indicate that there may be only one vote per person per school and the system allows one to vote more than once. They said our total was unrealistic.”
Ms Joan van Tonder, spokesperson of Hoërskool Bergvlam said that the organisers have told her that they have been disqualified because they voted too many times. “The learners thought that they could vote more than once due to the system allowing them to. The kids were so enthusiastic and we went all out.”
The rules seemed simple: “Simply select the one that you would like to vote for and get as many of your friends and family to vote too. Note that there is a category for primary and high schools and the takeover prize allows for a winner in each category. If your school is not listed, please send an email to beate@primelife.co.za to have it listed.”
The link used to vote on Riverside Park’s official website does no longer allow one to vote on this site. You have to go to its Facebook page to vote. “We have disabled the mobile-voting application to avoid votes being manipulated. The application is still available through our Facebook page to have control over this function,” said Cruse. On Monday morning, Nelspruit and Bergvlam’s icon was available to vote for once again, but their previous votes were reset to 0. Indeed one person per school is not indicated and the system allows mobile users to do it more than once. The competition comes to an end on September 15.
