Six suspects arrested for kidnapping and murder

The incident resulted in the fatal assault of a 28-year-old man whose body was dumped at a veld in Tekwane North.

PIENAAR – Six suspects were arrested for kidnapping and murder during a mob justice incident on Saturday.

The incident resulted in the fatal assault of Mthobisi Dlamini, 28.

According to police, the suspects approached Dlamini, accusing him of stealing diesel at a certain house in the area from a stationery truck which was parked in the yard.

They then proceeded to assault and torture him despite him pleading his innocence.He later succumbed to his injuries and the suspects removed and dumped his body at a veld in Tekwane North.

Meanwhile, Dlamini’s family became concerned as he did not return home on that day and decided to investigate his whereabouts.

They were later informed that Dlamini had allegedly been  kidnapped by a group of men. They approached the suspects and enquired about Dlamini’s whereabouts. However, the men denied ever seeing or being around him.

A case of kidnapping was opened and investigations led to the discovery of his body and arrest of the suspects.

A 27-year-old man appeared in the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court yesterday on charges of kidnapping and murder. The other five suspects will appear in the same court today.
