Two murder suspects arrested in Barberton

One of the suspects allegedly dumped the body of a woman at a cemetery which was later discovered by passersby.

Police made a major breakthrough by arresting two suspects aged 32 and 37, on allegations of murder.

This is after two women were killed in separate incidents at Barberton in 2019. 

According to reports, in the first incident, Khulile Mahumane (28) was shot and killed by one of the suspects on the evening of May 15 while visiting her.

After a case was opened it was discovered that the suspect had reportedly fled the country. Following investigations, he was arrested at his residence on Wednesday and is expected to appear in court tomorrow.

In the second incident, Sydney Nhlanhla Machete (37) appeared in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for the alleged murder of Nomsa Nkosi.

The incident took place at the deceased’s house in October where the suspect fled the scene but was arrested last Friday.

His case was postponed to May 7,  2020 for bail application.

Extensive investigations into the case also led to the recovery of a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting and killing of Nkosi.
