MBOMBELA – A 56-year-old teacher appeared in the Tonga Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for sexual assault charges.
The man, who teaches at a local school, is alleged to have sexually assaulted eight grade seven learners, seven boys and a girl.
According to police, the incidents took place in March and was exposed last month by learners.
“He would allegedly call them over to his desk during lessons, show them pornographic videos as well as images and lure them individually to a storeroom. The suspect was arrested on October 16 after a lengthy investigation,” said the police.
He was granted R2000 bail and is expected to appear in the same court on January 20 next year.
