Suspects to appear for multiple crimes including perjury

Three men including a woman and a truck driver were arrested and charged for possession of illegal firearms and explosives as well as perjury.

Three men and a woman between the ages of 25 and 41 will appear at the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court for unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosives soon.

According to police, this is after an incident that took place on October 15 where a 41-year-old man alleged that he delivered iron bars at Kanyamazane driving a Toyota Fuso truck.

At about 14:00, as he was driving back a white Volkswagen Golf with two occupants blocked him. One of the occupants pointed a firearm and instructed him to get off the truck and sped off.

“The following day at about 16.00pm a Crime Intelligence Driven Operation was carried out at Pienaar, leading to the arrest of three suspects including the truck driver,” said the police. 

The suspects were spraying the truck with a different color when the police pounced on them.

One of the suspects asked one of the officers cellphone with a view to contact his parents to inform them about his arrest. The police overheard him asking someone to remove firearms as well as unlawful items and hide them.

“Police rushed to the identified house in the area and searched it. They found three AK47s and an R1 assault rifles, over 130 rounds of ammunition as well as explosives.

A woman who was found in the house was also arrested for the possession of the items. The truck driver was also charged with perjury.”
