Motorists jailed for kidnapping hitchhikers

They covered the woman’s head and drove with her to a secluded area where they both repeatedly raped her.

Two men were each sentenced to 21 years’ imprisonment by the Nkomazi Regional Court sitting in Tonga on June 27.
The Court meted out a combined 42-year imprisonment term to the duo, Joeman Masinga (23) and Alex Khoza (28), for rape and kidnapping committed in August last year.

According to evidence presented in court, they kidnapped a man and a woman to whom they had offered a lift from Tonga to KaMhlushwa on August 15, 2018.
As they were on their way, the driver changed direction and headed towards Mzinti, where they dropped the man off.

They then covered the woman’s head and drove with her to a secluded area where they both repeatedly raped her.
The matter was reported to the police and the duo was arrested on August 21.
