Bookkeeper sentenced to three years in prison for fraud and theft

She was convicted of 27 counts of fraud and theft.

A 50- year-old woman will spend three years behind bars or pay a R70 000,00 fine after she was found guilty for fraud and theft.

Louisa Lubbie appeared at the Nelspruit Regional Court on Friday after she stole R144 000,00 from her employer.

Lubbie worked as a bookkeeper for FFA Mechanical Servicest. She was responsible for receiving and banking the company’s monies , however she fraudulently made payments to her personal bank account.

She also manipulated the company’s books to hide the transactions she had made.

The case was also reported to the Nelspruit Serious Commercial Investigation team and after thorough investigation, Lubbie was sentenced to three years imprisonment or a fine of R70 000,00.
