KARINO – Four suspects robbed a church an hour after the Tuesday service in Karino yesterday. They tied the guard on duty with ropes before placing him in the toilets at the back of the building.

The robbery took place at around 22:00 when they gained entry into the premises. According to pastor Hebert Nyakujara, they proceeded to cut the keys to break into the two containers.

The suspects ransacked the container.
The two containers that were broken into.

“After two hours they went to fetch the guard and brought him to the container office. They ransacked thinking they will get some cash but we never keep any money on premises. They took our sound system and loaded it into their bakkie and left the drums probably because the bakkie didn’t have space. They also took the generator, brush cutter, toolbox and some groceries that we use to make food parcels and give to the less privileged,” he said.  After making off with the items, the guard managed to free himself and went to seek help.

“That is when he alerted the church leadership who went to the church premises, called the police and opened a case of burglary. We are appealing to members of the community who might have information or if they come across suspicious goods being sold to call the police,” he added.

This is a developing story.
