Ermelo trio arrested for copper cable theft to apply for bail

Copper cables estimated to the value of R200 000,00 were recovered at a scrap yard where the suspects are employed.

Three suspects were arrested by the Hawks last Friday during an operation conducted in Ermelo.

Sazise Vincent Bhengu(21), Brian Dlamini (44) and Tsepelo Sinalo Kibe (44) appeared at the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 25 and were remanded in custody.

The Hawks pounced on the trio who are  employees at the scrap yard where copper cables belonging to Transnet estimated to the value of R200 000.00 were recovered. The copper cables and the bakkie which was found loading those copper cables were seized for further investigation.

The suspects are facing charges of possession of suspected stolen properties ( Second Hand Goods Act 6 of 2009). They will appear in court today for a formal bail application.
