Local businessman and accomplice granted R20 000 bail for various charges

NPA spokesperson Monica Nyuswa said the pair was arrested after the police conducted a joint operation including SANParks in the Acornhoek police cluster.

A businessman from Hazyview Petrus Sydney Mabuza and Nozwelo Mahumane appeared at the Hazyview Periodic Court yesterday on various charges including contravention in terms of the Firearm Control Act, Conspiracy to commit crimes as well various contraventions in the Credit Act.

Three premises were searched as part and a high calibre hunting rifle, a number of live rounds of ammunition, a silencer, an undisclosed number of identity documents, banks cards and SASSA cards were among the items that were seized.

The accused were granted R 20 000 bails on conditions that Mhumane reports to Hazyview police station three times a week, hand in her passport to the investigating officer, not enter any game reserve, and also to reside in the address she provided in court pending the finalisation of the case. “Should the accused fail to do so a warrant of arrest will be issued for her re-arrested. The matter against Mabuza was postponed to June 20 in White River Magistrate Court for a bail application,” said Nyuswa.
