Help police find court robbers

A probe by police revealed that the suspects, who were wearing balaclavas allegedly gained entry into the court premises by breaking the padlock at the gate.

Police are looking for two men who locked security guards on duty in the holding cells of the Balfour Magistrate’s Court last Saturday and stole state property.

According to information at police disposal, a passer-by raised an alarm when screams were heard from the court. Police were summoned and upon arrival, they found the guards locked up in the court’s holding cells.  They further broke into some offices then stole computers, two state vehicles as well as personal belongings of the guards before locking them in the holding cells. The vehicles, a Nissan Hardbody and Chevrolet Aveo, were found abandoned in Gauteng yesterday.

No arrests have been made but anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects is urged to contact Detective Constable Oupa Mahlangu on 071 640 3178/017 773 0050 or  to call the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
