Life sentence for rapist,another in custody for rape
The court heard that in July last year, the convict raped his 17-year-old daughter on the day after having collected her from the bus stop. Along the road, he diverted to a secluded spot where he raped her twice.
A 52- year -old man who raped his daughter was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Standerton Regional Court while another was remanded in custody.
In another incident, a teenage girl was raped by a 33-year- old man at Mgcobaneni near Hazyview after two other children noticed the suspect dragging the victim to a dumpsite. The children then ran to a nearby security guard who was on duty at a local supermarket who then went to investigate. Upon arrival at the scene, it is alleged that the guard found the suspect half naked. Police were called to the scene where the suspect was arrested.
He appeared at the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on Monday (May 14 2018) where he was ordered to remain in custody until May 23 for a formal bail application.
