Kidnapper appears in court

Mr Thokozani Msibi (32), who is believed to be a sangoma from Swaziland, appeared in the Witbank Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

The suspect arrested in connection with the abduction of two children, Gabisile Shabane (13) who lives with albinism and a 15-month-old Nkosikhona Ngwenya from Vosman, will spend the weekend behind bars.

He was not asked to plead to the charge of kidnapping.

He was remanded in custody and the case postponed to February 26 for his bail application.

Tomorrow the MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Mr Pat Ngomane, and SAPS provincial commissioner Lt Gen Mondli Zuma will visit the children’s family in Vosman.

Ngomane said people who live with albinism are like any other human being and should be treated with dignity and respect

The children where kidnapped when three men broke into a house on January 28. The trio broke a window and gained entry into the dinning/living room.

The children were residing with their 50-year-old grandmother.
