Another Mawewe royal family member shot

According to Capt Magonseni Nkosi, the incident occurred at the princess' home in Kamhlushwa. She was found with three gunshot wounds on her upper body, her boyfriend had one gunshot wound on his head.

Tonga police are investigating another murder from the Mawewe Tribal Authority.

A princess was shot dead by her boyfriend who also killed himself around 23:00 on Friday.

“Police opened charges of murder, possession of unlicensed firearm and an inquest,” he said.

According to Nkosi, the boyfriend’s cousin was in the same house with the couple when this happened.

“They went to the bedroom leaving the cousin in the lounge. An argument ensued between the two and gun shots were heard immediately after the argument. The cousin tried to open the door, but it was locked. He called police to the scene,” he said.

Both the deceased were certified dead by paramedics at the scene.

This takes place just two weeks after an 81-year-old elderly woman was shot dead by intruders at the Mawewe royal house, Mgobodzi.

“No arrest had been made so far, however our investigation is at an advanced stage,” said Nkosi.
