Police arrests five dagga dealers

One of the suspect was arrested during a joint operation between the National Intervention Unit (NIU), K9 unit, and Tactical Reaction Team (TRT) from Limpopo, after receiving information about his dagga dealings.

This week Mpumalanga police arrested five suspects for dealing dagga.

Mr Davis Themba (36) from Mariti near Hazyview appeared in Mkhuhlu Magistrate’s Court yesterday. He was found in possession of dagga to an estimated value of R110 000

The court released him on R10 000 bail.

The case was postponed to February 22 for further investigation.

In a separate incident the police also arrested four suspects who were found in possession of dagga worth an estimated R120 000. This happened at the Bothashoop Port of Entry in Piet Retief.

The suspects, Khanyisile Nyoni (29), Bheki Dlamini (43), Selina Mpindili (38) and Nkosinathi Maziya (24), appeared in the Piet Retief Magistrate’s Court on February 12. They were remanded in custody on February 14.
