Principal’s widow and co-accused appear in court

The court granted Khoza and Ngwenya bail on different occasions, while Mdluli was denied bail.

WHITE RIVER – While the world celebrates National Teachers’ Day, the widow of the late principal of Mahlatse High School briefly appeared in the local magistrate’s court for the murder of her husband.

The court case against Ms Ethel Simangele Mdluli (54) and her co-accused Mr Xolani Ngwenya (37) and a 52-year-old warder Mr Peter Khoza was once again postponed pending further investigations, to November 29.

The three are implicated in the murder of the then 57-year-old Mvelase Solomon Mdluli, who was allegedly throttled and suffocated with a black plastic bag while he was watching the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) on January 24, around 22:00.

His car, television set and fan were stolen.
The vehicle was found abandoned in KaNyamazane a few days later.
