A 38-year-old man from KaMhlushwa was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his 10-year-old daughter.
On August 15 the Nkomazi Magistrate’s Court found the man guilty of two counts of rape and child abuse.He was sentenced to an additional 10 years imprisonment for child abuse.

The victim stayed with her father and her grandmother following the separation of her parents. Neighbours reported the matter to a local councillor, and the case was then forwarded to a social worker
Through the social worker’s assessment, it was established that the child had been abused and assaulted sexually. A rape case was opened at Tonga SAPS.
The child has undergone counselling and medical treatment.
Tonga’s station commander Brig Velisiwe Mdaka welcomed the sentence and applauded investigating officer Sgt Bonginkosi Mdakane for his commitment
