Man accused of burying his lover in a shallow grave appeared in court

The matter was postponed to September 8 for his bail application.

KABOKWENI – Angry residents from Manyeveni packed the KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court to voice their anger towards a 26-year-old Hamilton Mazibuko accused for the murder of his lover of four years, Thembisile Base (24).

Due to the unrest in the community, the court was heavily guarded by armed police from stations in the Pienaar Cluster.
Mazibuko was read his rights and opted for the state to provide legal representation.

Outside court some members of the public chanted slogans threatening to take law into their own hands if the court would give Mazibuko bail.

Others stated he should be given bail to properly prepare for his deceased’s funeral.

Base’s partially decomposed body was found on Sunday morning by a herder.

The corpse was buried in a shallow grave in the bushes in Manyeveni Trust outside KaBokweni.
