Murder suspect released on R10 000 bail

All three suspects previously pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and the murder of the principal.

WHITE RIVER – One of the three accused implicated in the murder of a 57-year-old principal, the late Mvelase Solomon Mdluli of Mahlatsi Secondary School is out on bail.

Mr Peter Khoza, an employee of the South African Correctional Services was granted bail by the Gauteng Division of the High Court seated in Nelspruit on July 7

Khoza and his co-accused, the 54-year-old principal’s widow, Ms Ethel Simangele Mdluli and Xolani Ngwenya (37) appeared for a bail application at the White River Magistrate’s Court on July 24. The two were denied bail.

The deceased was allegedly throttled and suffocated with a black plastic bag while he was watching the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) soccer games on January 24, around 22.00.

His car, a television set and a fan were stolen. The car was found abandoned at Kanyamazane a few days later.

The trio will all appear in the same magistrate’s court on October 5.

Investigations still continue.
