Wanted suspect arrested at a pension pay point

His arrest comes after the Nelspruit Serious Organised Crime unit received information about his whereabouts.

A 29-year-old suspect was busted from a pension pay point at Hluvukani yesterday.

He was arrested in connection with the murder and hijacking of a l businessman from Marite Trust.
The late Zachariah Theledi was hijacked and shot dead by three suspects while approaching his home on November 25, 2016.

Theledi’s vehicle was later found abandoned at Shabalala village the following day.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Mhala Magistrate’s Court soon.

According to Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, one of the suspects was arrested earlier this year when the Hawks took over the case.

The recently arrested suspect and an unknown one had been on the run for six months, until the latest arrest yesterday. Sekgotodi says the missing one will also be arrested soon.

Mpumalanga DPCI Provincial Head, Maj Gen Zodwa Mokoena applauded the Hawks and the members of the community for pursuing the suspect.

“This is a demonstration that one can run, but cannot hide from the police forever.
The co-operation between members of the public and the police is also highly appreciated,” she stated.

Investigations on the matter still continue.
