Principal’s widow denied bail

The investigating officer said the widow, Ms Simangele Ethel Mdluli and her co accused Mr Peter Khoza exchanged calls several times before and after the murder of her husband.

WHITE RIVER – Two of the three accused implicated in the murder of the 57-year-old principal of Mahlatsi High School, the late Mvelase Solomon Mdluli, have been denied bail by the White River Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
Mdluli’ s widow, Ms Ethel Simangele Mdluli (54) and her alleged boyfriend Mr Peter Khoza (52) appeared for the continuation
of their bail application.

The investigating officer said the two exchanged calls several times before and after the murder of the deceased. The third suspect, Mr Xolani Ngwenyama, will appear in the same court today for his bail application as his lawyer was not in court on Wednesday.

All three pleaded guilty on charges of conspiracy to murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and murder.

Trial between Mdluli and Khoza will proceed on June 23 in the White River Magistrate’s Court.

The late Mdluli was assaulted, suffocated and strangulated with a rope at his house while watching the Africa Cup of Nations on January 23.
