Two widows appear for bail application in local courts today

Two widows who recently made news headlines for planning the murder of their husbands are expected to appear separately in local Magistrate Courts today.

MBOMBELA – Cross-examinations to ascertain if the late Vusi Mona’s wife, Ms Simangale Shongwe, should be granted bail on the charge of Mona’s murder continues at KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court today.

Shongwe has been in custody since her arrest a month after the murder of her husband. She was remanded in custody after debates on whether she should be released on bail ended with no resolution on May 20. Her husband was killed on Valentine’s Day after three suspects kidnapped him from his house in KaNyamazane

They forced him into his bakkie and took him to the bank to withdraw money. Mona’s body was later found in Pienaar inside his car with a gunshot wound and his feet and hands bound by cables.

The 54-year-old Ethel Simangele Mdluli who is a nurse at Rob Ferreira Hospital and her two co-accused Mr Peter Khoza (52) and 32 year-old Mr Xolani Mngwenya will appear in the White River Magistrate’s Court for their bail application

. They face charges of murdering Mr Mvelase Solomon Mdluli, who was a former principal of Mahlatse Secondary. He was suffocated and strangulated to death while watching the Afcon tournament at his house in White River.
His car, a television and a fan were stolen from the deceased’s house. The car was found abandoned in KaNyamazane a few days later. Police investigations led to the arrest of his wife in the full view of her colleagues at Rob Ferreira Hospital on March 16. Her co-accused were apprehended on the same day.
