Police on the trail of cash-in-transit robbers

The unidentified men used explosives to blow up the cash van, took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.

Police are looking for six armed men who robbed a cash-in-transit vehicle around Marapyane, near KwaMhlanga.

According to information at police disposal, the vehicle slowed down at a speed hump when occupants in two unknown vehicles opened fire at it until it came to a complete halt, whereafter a group of men wielding firearms ordered the security officials to get out of the vehicle.

No suspects have been arrested yet and police are investigating an armed robbery case. The police management in the province, led by the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma castigates these sort of acts. The community is urged to work with the police in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to book.
