Drug dealer receives a four-years suspended sentence in Carolina

The Carolina Magistrate's Court sentenced the accused to four years imprisonment which is wholly suspended for four years on condition that he is not found guilty of the same offence.

A 39-year-old man was sentenced to four years imprisonment for dealing in drugs.

Mr Mathews Vilakazi was found guilty by the Carolina Magistrate Court on April 21.

Vilakazi’s fine R70 000 and his motor vehicle, a Toyota double cab 4×4 were forfeited to the state.

This comes after Vilakazi’s arrest on July 28, 2016 by members of the Hawks in Mpumalanga after being tipped by members of the community. On the day in question, he was found in possession of 300kg of Cannabis worth an estimated street value of R700 000 which was subsequently seized together with his car.
