Two suspects who escaped from Secunda are re-arrested while three are still at large

Police are still on the look out for the three missing suspects are Karabo Mkhwanazi (29) and 34-year-old Siyanda Dlamini who was arrested for shoplifting, and Fanyana Vincent Jiyane (30) who faces charges of rape and common robbery.

Two of the five awaiting trial suspects who escaped from the Secunda Police Station holding cells on Saturday morning have been rearrested.

Mr Dumsani Simon Hlatshwayo (31) who was initially apprehended for shoplifting was rearrested shortly after his escape, while 26-year-old Mr Buti Absalom Nxumalo who faces charges for shoplifting was rearrested at eMbalenhle on Sunday evening.

Hlatshwayo and Nxumalo briefly appeared in Secunda Magistrate’s Court on Monday on their additional charges of escaping from lawful custody.

On April 8 all five suspects jumped the fence at the police station’s holding cells and were seen by a member of the community.
