Ethiopian man and his local friend arrested for stealing goats

A 28-year-old Ethiopian man was arrested together with a 31-year-old local man in connection with stock theft.

WHITE RIVER – The two were not asked to plead to charges of stock theft when they appeared before White River Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

They were remanded in custody and would appear again in the same magistrate’s court on April 3.

Their arrest comes after police received a tip off about them in Primkop farm after they were seen with suspected stolen goats in the area.

Police found the goats carcasses in their house. The goats were apparently stolen from Platsak farm over the weekend.

On a separate incident, the local police spokesperson Const Cynthia Mbokodo warns online shoppers of a scam targeting online users.

“We have received several reports from people around White River who have fall victims of such. We advise them to be careful while shopping online and only shop with reliable and registered companies,” she explains.
